PM Modi drives to Jaitley's home after senior leader opts out of cabinet
New Delhi, May 29 (IBNS/UNI): Hours after senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley wrote a letter to Prime Minister stating that he would not like to be part of the second Modi-led ministry, Narendra Modi on Wednesday evening drove to the ailing party colleague's house.
The visit came amid speculation that Modi could urge his Finance Minister in the outgoing ministry and a close friend of many years to reconsider his decision.
Earlier in the day, Jaitley informed the PM that he wishes to opt out of the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for the present time over health issues.
In a letter, Jaitley urged Modi not to give him any responsibility of the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA government for now.
"I am writing to you to formally request you that I should be allowed a reasonable time for myself, my treatment and my health and, therefore, not be a part of any responsibility, for the present, in the new Government," Jaitley wrote.

The interim budget this year was presented by acting Finance Minister Piyush Goyal in absence of Jaitley.
Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister on Thursday. He was appointed to the Prime Minister's Office last Saturday.
Along with Modi, the council of ministers will also take oath on Thursday.
