PM Modi assures help to Mamata Banerjee on Bengal flood situation, announces compensation

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the flood situation caused by water discharge from dams in parts of the state.

The Prime Minister also assured all possible support from the Centre to help mitigate the situation.

A PMO tweet said, "PM @narendramodi spoke to WB CM @MamataOfficial on the flood situation caused by water discharge from dams in parts of the state. PM assured all possible support from the Centre to help mitigate the situation.

"PM Modi prays for the safety and wellbeing of those in affected areas." it added.

Modi has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh to be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to flooding in parts of West Bengal and Rs. 50,000 to those injured.

In a tweet, the PMO informed, "An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to flooding in parts of West Bengal. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000."
