Paris/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris on Wednesday following the conclusion of the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, where he held a series of high-level bilateral meetings and discussions on global issues.

Modi was welcomed by members of the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in the French capital and highlighted the importance of the India-France partnership in a post on social media.

Modi Highlights India-France Partnership

Sharing pictures of his welcome in Paris, Modi wrote on X: "Reached Paris a short while ago to a warm welcome by the Indian diaspora. I am proud of their efforts in bringing India and France closer."

"The India-France partnership is vital for the progress of our planet," he added.

The Prime Minister's visit comes as India and France continue to deepen cooperation in areas ranging from defence and technology to clean energy and strategic affairs.

Trump Voices Strong Support For India

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump offered a strong public endorsement of India during his meeting with Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.

Following bilateral talks, Trump said the United States would support India if the country faced an external attack while Modi remained in office.

"If Modi is the leader and India is attacked, we will be there to help them," Trump told reporters.

The US President further added, "If anybody attacks that man, we're going to be there."

In a lighter moment, Trump remarked, "Now, if there's a new leader, I'm not sure..."

Focus On Trade, Security And Strategic Ties

The Modi-Trump meeting focused on trade, economic cooperation and regional security issues. Both leaders reviewed ongoing areas of collaboration as India and the United States continue to strengthen strategic ties amid evolving geopolitical challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.

Trump described the discussions as productive and reiterated the importance of the relationship between Washington and New Delhi.

India-US Partnership

India and the United States have significantly expanded defence, technology and economic cooperation over the past decade.

The two countries are key partners in the Indo-Pacific and work closely through forums such as the Quad.

India and France, meanwhile, share a long-standing strategic partnership, with cooperation spanning defence manufacturing, space exploration, nuclear energy and maritime security. France remains one of India's closest partners in Europe.
