PM Modi announces Rs. 1.65 lakh crore package for poll-bound Bihar

Arrah, Bihar, Aug 18 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a special package worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore and an addition fund of Rs 40,000 crore for poll-bound Bihar in keeping with his earlier promise for the state's development.

"I promise you I will implement this package fully. If we want to solve people's problems then the only way ahead is development," said Modi while addressing a rally in Arrah.

"Along with Rs 1.25 lakh crore package, an additional Rs 40,000 crore will also be spent on the state," he said amid thunderous applause of the crowd.

Almost 10 days after Kumar's attack over Modi calling Bihar a "bimaru rajya" (Ailing state), Modi  said, "I welcome the fact that Bihar is not a bimaru state. But still the government keeps asking for something or the other."

"I  will be the happiest persons if Bihar stops being counted as one of the Bimaru states," he said.

Earlier, the Prime Minister  launched a highway project worth Rs. 9,700 crore while promising to "change the face of Bihar" that is set to go for a high-voltage Assembly election by November this year.

This is Modi's third visit to Bihar within a span of just one month after he became Prime Minister in May last year.

Under the highway project, there will be 10 roads, including a four-lane one  from Buxar to Patna and a six-lane bridge at Koelwar in Arrah.
