PM Modi announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to next kin of boat tragedy victims

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next kin of those who lost their lives due to the boat mishap in Malappuram in Kerala on Sunday evening.

The Prime Minister tweeted that "Pained by the loss of lives due to the boat mishap in Malappuram, Kerala. Condolences to the bereaved families. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased."

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijjayan who condoled the demise of those who died in the boat tragedy informed that hé will visit the accident spot and meet the bereaved families on Monday.

At least 21 people including 5 children died after the tourist boat overturned at Tanur in Malappuram on Sunday night, sources said.
