PM greets nation on the beginning of Ramzan
New Delhi, June 30 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted the nation on the beginning of the holy month of Ramzan.
"As Ramzan begins, I convey my greetings & pray that the Holy Month brings peace & happiness in everyone`s life," Modi tweeted.
The holy month of fasting for people belonging to the Muslim community, known as 'Ramzan', started across India on Monday.
Ramzan is the ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar.
The ninth lunar month is considered the most sacred month of the Islamic calendar, because it was during this period the holy book of Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad.
The holy month begins after the sighting of the new moon with the naked eye and lasts for 29 to 30 days after the beginning of the month.
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan also greeted netizens on the occasion of Ramzan on Twitter.
