Playing politics on corpses should be learned from 'vultures of the earth': Harsh Vardhan's counter on Rahul Gandhi's attack

New Delhi/IBNS: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his barbed tweet on a New York Times report on Covid numbers in India, saying that playing politics on Covid deaths should be learned from "vultures of the earth".

"Politics on corpses, INCIndia Style! Although vultures are disappearing from trees, it seems their spirit has been absorbed by vultures of the earth.@RahulGandhi ji trusts #NewYork more than #Delhi. One should learn to play politics on corpses from the vultures of the earth," his tweet read.

"Numbers don't lie... GOI does," Gandhi had tweeted this morning, along with an article headlined "Just How Big Could India's True Covid Toll Be".

As the coronavirus infection swept across, thousands of dead bodies were rushed to crematoriums, at times forcing cremations at parking lots, parks and other places, media reported. Dead bodies were also found floating down the Ganga and even buried on the riverbank.

As reports emerged, foreign and Indian media questioned the official figures, which according to government records stand at 3.11 lakh.
