Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): The plaintiffs of the Hindu side on Thursday filed a rejoinder on an application moved by the Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee to stop the ongoing scientific survey of Gyanvapi complex by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee has alleged that the exercise was being done without depositing the cost to bear the expenses of the survey.

The counsel of the plaintiffs Madan Mohan Yadav said that on August 9 the Intezamia Committee moved a fresh application to stop the ongoing scientific survey of Gyanvapi mosque complex by the ASI with immediate effect.

He said the Committee alleged that the plaintiffs have failed to deposit the cost to bear the expenses incurred for the survey therefore direction should be issued by the district court to stop the survey with immediate effect.

It claimed that the notice regarding the ASI survey was not given to the Muslim side.

"The plaintiffs through their counsels submitted a rejoinder in the district court after which the court has fixed August 22 as the date of hearing on the matter," Yadav said.

On August 22, the court will also hear an application of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand for "rag-bhog, aarti, darshan and pujan" of the Shivling found in the “wazookhana” which is sealed on the directives of the Supreme Court.
