A 68-year-old pilgrim died after suffering from cardiac arrest outside Banke Bihari temple in Mathura here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, a senior police officer said here.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shailensh Kumar Pandey said Sunil, a resident of Mumbai, had come to pay obeisance at Banke Bihari temple.

"After darshan he came out of the temple and sat on a platform," he said.

He said that when Sunil started wailing the police personnel present on the spot called a doctor and he was taken to the hospital.

"The doctors present in the hospital declared him dead and said that he died due to cardiac arrest," he said.

The SSP refuted the social media report and Sunil that he did not die inside the temple.

He said that Sunil came out after visiting the temple because he started having chest pain due to which he sat on the platform outside the temple.
