Srinagar/UNI: Pakistani troops again violated ceasefire at the Line of Control (LoC) fired mortars and other weapons in Tangdhar sector in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Monday evening, official sources said on Tuesday.

They said panic gripped in Tangdhar in Kupwara when Pakistani troops fired mortars and other weapons, targeting forward army posts and civilian last evening. Indian troops also gave a befitting reply, they said.

There was no report of any loss of life or damage to property on this side, they said.

Pak troops have been violating ceasefire at LoC in Baramulla and Kupwara district to help militants, waiting at Launch Pads to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall on higher reaches. Over 300 to 400 trained militants are waiting in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) at Launch Pads to enter this side. However, senior army officers said that troops guarding the LoC are on high alert to foil any such infiltration bid by militants.

Meanwhile, about 120 secure shelter sheds are being constructed for Rs 9.3 lakh each in Karnah subdivision for the people living within the range of Pak shelling in Kupwara. These shelter sheds could be used by the residents in case of Pak shelling.
