Pakistan will face dire consequences if they attack: Modi reveals conversation with JD Vance ahead of ceasefire

This was PM Modi's response to repeated allegations against his government that US Donald Trump helped broker peace between India Pakistan following escalation post Operation Sindoor.

Trump has gone on to repeat the claim at least 29 times since the ceasefire agreement on May 10.

Modi said no global leader urged India to halt Operation Sindoor, which was launched to avenge the Pahalgam attack.

"On the night of the 9th, the Vice President of the United States attempted to contact me. He tried for an hour, but I was in a meeting with the military and was unable to answer. Later, I returned his call," he said.

"During our conversation, the Vice President informed me that Pakistan was planning to launch a major offensive. In response, I firmly stated, 'If this is Pakistan's intent, they will face dire consequences.'"

PM Modi said after the Pahalgam terror attack, he made a public commitment to ensure that the terrorists would be eradicated.

"I also declared that their handlers would be held accountable and face consequences," he said.

"Immediately following the Pahalgam attack, the Pakistani military anticipated that India would retaliate significantly. They even issued threats to use nuclear weapons.On May 6th and 7th, India executed its planned response, leaving Pakistan powerless to act," he said.

"In just 22 minutes, our forces avenged the attack of April 22nd with clear objectives in mind," the PM said.

PM Modi's address followed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi challenging him to call Donald Trump a 'liar', refuting his claims that he mediated to end the conflict between India and Pakistan in May.

Addressing the Lok Sabha, Gandhi said: "Donald Trump said 29 times that he stopped the war. If this is not true, then the PM should deny and say Trump you are liar."

Speaking about the Pahalgam attack that shocked the nation on April 22, one of the deadliest terror attacks recorded in Jammu and Kashmir in recent times, Gandhi said: "Attack in Pahalgam: a brutal, heartless attack, clearly organized and orchestrated by the Pakistani state."

"Merciless killings of young and old people in cold blood. We have together condemned Pakistan," he said.

Apart from Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress MP and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the Centre while launching a debate on the Operation Sindoor in the Parliament.
