Pakistan agrees to allow Afghan trucks for transport of 50,000 MT wheat from India

Islamabad/UNI: Pakistan on Friday agreed to allow the use of Afghan trucks to transport 50,000 MT of wheat from India through Wagah as humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan.

Earlier, Pakistan had been insisting on the use of Pakistani trucks, while India had proposed using either Indian or Afghan trucks.

Pakistan conveyed the decision to the Indian Charge D’Affaires in Islamabad.

“The Indian government was also urged to proceed quickly to take necessary steps to expeditiously to undertake the delivery of the humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan,” a Pakistan Foreign Ministry statement said.
