One killed, several trapped as under-construction building collapses in Karnataka

Dharwad, Mar 19 (IBNS): At least one person has died and several are trapped under the debris of an under-construction building that collapsed in this Karnataka district on Tuesday, media reports said.

The incident took place at Kumareshwara Nagar of Dharward district, around 400km north of state capital Bengaluru.

Karnataka chief minster H.D. Kumaraswamy expressed shock.

"Shocked to learn about the collapse of an under-construction building in Dharwad. I have instructed the Chief Secretary to supervise rescue operations. I have also directed the CS to send additional resources and expert rescuers by a special flight to #Dharwad," he tweeted.

"I have instructed the concerned officials to be on location," he added.
