Bhubaneswar, Jun 4 (UNI): The Odisha government today invited suggestion from members of the public, civil society organisations, advocacy groups and other stake holders to give their suggestions and participate in the budget making process.

The process for preparing the Odisha budget for 2019-20 started today with state finance minister Niranjan Pujari requesting the stake holders to send their suggestions in a structured format by e mail to 'odisha.budget@gov.in'.

Suggestions can also be sent through Whatsapp and SMS to the mobile number +91-9438161111.

Mr Pujari said this facility will be available for a fortnight from June 4, 2019 till June 15,2019.

Replying to a question, the minister said after analyzing the inputs received, issues would be prioritised.

Mr Pujari said the cyclonic storm FANI was likely to impact the budget. He said the revenue generation was affected by FANI which severely hit Puri, Khorda, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Money is being spent from SDRF and NDRF for relief and restoration work in the affected areas. The government will soon submit a final report to the Union government seeking assistance to meet the requirement, he said.

The government, the finance minister said, was expecting the loan burden of the state to touch around Rs 92,000 crore but till March last the loan burden of the state stood at Rs 87,000 crore.

He said the loan burden of the state was less in comparison to other states. The Union government has allowed the state to increase its borrowing limit.

The finance minister said the GSDP of the state was 8.35 per cent in 2018-19 against around 7 per cent in 2017-18.

He said the GSDP of the state is 3/4th of the national average. It should be raised to more than nine national average to maintain the growth momentum.

The minister said the state received a revenue of Rs 1,993 crore from April last till today from mining sector. Earlier the annual revenue receipt from mining sector was only Rs 5,700 crore but it went up to Rs 10,000 crore last year.
