Odisha flood: Death toll touches 38

Bhubaneswar, Aug 10 (IBNS): The death toll in the Odisha flood touched 38 on Sunday with over 18 lakh people been affected by the rains in 24 districts, reports said.
The flood situation in Bargarh district remained grim as the back water of Hirakud dam entered five villages. 
 
The district administration has evacuated 1300 people from these villages. 
 
The flood situation has affected nearly half-a-million livestock and destroyed at least 15,943 houses while agricultural crops cultivated over 208,911.9 hectares of land were damaged.
 
Over 70,000 people have been evacuated after rain water inundated a vast part of many areas in the state. 
 
Over three lakh people across 526 villages are still marooned.
 
At least 11 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and 30 Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams are currently carrying out the rescue drive.
