Odisha CM welcomes PM Modi's demonetisation move

Bhubaneswar, Nov 9 (IBNS): Calling it a 'bold step', Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government's move to discontinue with Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes.

"With over 80% cash circulation withdrawn, expect Union Government to ensure smooth transition so that people do not suffer hardship," he tweeted.

"My Government is committed to support all measures aimed at transparency in governance," the Chief Minister said.

Patnaik said: "Welcome demonetisation, bold step by @PMOIndia to curb black money, fake currency & terror funding."

In a bold step to curb the usage of fake Indian currency and combat the issue of black money, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes will cease to be legal from Tuesday midnight.
