Obama greeted with ceremonial Guard of Honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, Jan 25 (IBNS): US President Barack Obama, who is on a three-day visit to India, was on Sunday given a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
During his ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, he was given 21 guns salute  at the President House forecourt.
 
He was received at the President's House by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
The US President, who has arrived in India will his delegates and wife and US First Lady Michelle, said it is a matter of honour for him to be back in the Asian country.
 
"President Obama is honored to be back in #India to celebrate Republic Day and to begin a new chapter in the US-India partnership.  Jai Hind!," the White House tweeted.
 
Obama met Indian cabinet ministers after the honour. He is scheduled to join PM Modi for a working lunch at the Hyderabad House in the afternoon. 
 
The two leaders will have an expanded delegation level meeting expected to last for about an hour.
 
A one-on-one walk is also planned at the Hyderabad House. 
 
With progress in talks on a stalled nuclear deal, India is optimistic that a key breakthrough will be made, reports said.
 
He will attend a state banquet hosted by President Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening. 
 
Obama is now at Rajghat to pay floral tributes to the father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
 
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday welcomed US President and his friend Barack Obama with a warm hug at the Palam Airport in New Delhi.
 
Obama and his wife Michelle has come to India on an invitation by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend this year's Republic Day parade on Monday.
