Bhagalpur, Sep 20 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Bihar revenue and land reforms minister Ram Narain Mandal on Friday created a flutter in NDA camp by asserting that National Register of Citizens (NRC) would be implemented in the state, a stand contrary to what had been taken by JD (U) and deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

After holding review meeting with the departmental officers of Bhagalpur and Banka districts here, Mandal said that NRC would be implemented in Bihar also and there was no dispute over it. He said the implementation of NRC would help common people as it would also check the activities of illegal migrants.

As it is, union home minister and BJP president Amit Shah had said in Ranchi on Wednesday that NRC would be implemented in the entire country.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh and other BJP leaders were also demanding implementation of NRC in Bihar.

On the other hand, deputy  chief minister had said no proposal for implementation of NRC in Bihar was under consideration.

Mandal said all preparations had been made in view of the flood wreaking havoc in a few districts of the state. He said that National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams had been put on alert mod.

“Under the leadership of chief minister Nitish Kumar, entire government machinery is on full alert and round the clock vigil on the situation is being maintained,” he added.

Mandal said that all officers had been directed to expedite the work related to land and revenue related issues in Bhagalpur division and all other parts of the state.

“If any officer is found lax in performing his duty, the government would not hesitate in taking tough action against him,” he added.
