Not holding Assembly poll confirms sinister designs of GoI, alleges Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Alleging that not holding assembly elections alongwith parliamentary polls in Jammu and Kashmir confirms sinister design of Government of India (GoI), president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday evening said it is a tactic of buying time to disempower people by pushing an agenda that suits their ulterior motives.

Reacting to Chief Election Commissioner (CEI) announcement to hold on Parliamentary elections in the state, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said not letting people elect a government is anti-ethical to the very idea of democracy.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter , she said “ Decision to hold only Parliamentary elections in J&K confirms sinister designs of GoI. Not letting people elect a government is anti-ethical to the very idea of democracy. Also a tactic of buying time to disempower people by pushing an agenda that suits their ulterior motives.”

Jammu and Kashmir is under President's rule after expiry of six month's Governor rule which was imposed in June last year following the collapse of PDP-BJP coalition after saffron party withdrew support from the government.
