Noida woman finds centipede in Amul ice cream ordered on Blinkit

Noida: A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida found a frozen centipede inside an Amul ice cream tub she ordered from quick-commerce platform Blinkit.

She posted a video of the ice cream tub with the arthropod clung to its cover.

The woman said she ordered the ice cream to make mango shake for her kids but was horrified to see a ‘kankhajura’ or frozen centipede sticking to the cover of the ice cream tub.

“Oh my God! Yeh maine bachon ke liye mango shake banane ke liye Blinkit se thodi der pehle yeh Amul ka ice cream mangwaya hai. Yehi abhi mangaya hai maine, yeh box full hai. Isme yeh kankhajura mila hai mujhe. Yeh pura jama pada hua hai ice cream pe (I just ordered an ice cream tub from Blinkit to make a mango shake for my kids. This is Amul’s ice cream. The box is full, and I found a frozen centipede in here),” she says in the video.

The viral video garnered over 92,000 views, and several reactions from social media users.

One user said, “Warehouses do not maintain hygiene. Rats roam around in their warehouses and goods are scattered on the floor. Biscuit packets are lying open and are also bitten by rats. These warehouses should be audited, that too once in three months. Foods should be ordered from those whose audit report is good.” Another user commented, “Amul should respond. How come a centipede can be found in a packed box.”

“There is huge demand for icecream these days and the companies are outsourcing from small vendors which in turn are screwing up,” a third user said.

This incident is not isolated. Just two days ago, Dr. Orlem Brandon Serrao from Mumbai was hit by an even more gruesome surprise. While enjoying an ice cream cone in Malad, he discovered a human finger inside, leaving him in shock.

"I had ordered three cone ice creams from an app. One of them was a butterscotch ice cream of Yummo brand. After eating half of it, I felt a solid piece in my mouth. I thought it could be a nut or a chocolate piece and spat it out to check what it was," said Dr Serrao.

"I am a doctor so I know how body parts look like. When I carefully examined it, I noticed the nails and fingerprint impressions under it. It resembled a thumb. I am traumatized," he added.

A case was files against the ice cream company for food adulteration and endangering human life.
