No 'outage' in Delhi: Union Power Ministry
New Delhi/UNI: There has been no outage due to power shortage in the national capital, the Union Power Ministry said on Wednesday.
"As per the information received from Delhi DISCOMs, there was no outage on account of power shortage, as the required amount of power was supplied to them," said the Ministry in a statement issued.
The maximum demand of Delhi was 4,683 MW (peak) and 101.9 MU (Energy) on October 11, it said.
According to a data issued by the Ministry, the energy requirement of Delhi on Tuesday was 101.1 MU, while the availability was 101.9 MU.
On Tuesday, Delhi Power Minister Satendar Jain said, “The central government says that there is no shortage of coal and on the other hand they say that the responsibility of coal will now be handled by the Union Minister. Centre should tell whether there is a shortage of coal or not or is it being done intentionally!”
Several states, including Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Tamil Nadu, had raised concerns over coal shortage leading to power outage.
Union Power Minister R.K. Singh, however, denied any coal shortage in the country.
"There was no crisis, there is no crisis. The crisis is being unnecessarily created," the Minister said.
