No more Sunday curfew in Madhya Pradesh as Covid situation improves

Bhopal/ IBNS: The Madhya Pradesh government on has announced relaxation in Covid-induced curfew on Sundays, following improvements in the coronavirus situation in the state.

Night curfew will continue as the state continues to to record fresh coronavirus cases, including Delta Plus variant infections.

"The Covid-19 pandemic is under control in Madhya Pradesh. There are 35 districts which haven't reported a single case of of Covid-19 and the active cases are currently below 1000. In view of this situation, the Sunday Corona curfew is withdrawn with immediate effect. The night curfew will continue as before," the Chief Minister's office tweeted on Saturday.

The new directive further said the shops can remain open on Sundays with proper Covid-19 protocols in place.

"Shops can be open on Sundays while maintaining Covid-19 protocols and Covid-appropriate behaviour. Work is going on at a continuous pace to create infrastructure in the hospitals for the third wave of Covid-19. Today, Madhya Pradesh created a record in vaccination. This campaign will continue," the CMO said.

"There is an appeal for all of you. Coronavirus pandemic is under control but it is still not eradicated. So, do not be complacent. Wear mask and make sure to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour," it added.

The state on Saturday reported that eight Covid-19 patients are infected with the Delta Plus variant.
