No more protests at Jamia Millia Islamia University: Registrar warns students
New Delhi/UNI: Jamia Millia Islamia University Registrar A P Siddiqui on Saturday issued a statement saying that any kind of protest that disrupts day to day academic activities will not be allowed in the campus.
"It is to inform that any kind of protest meeting, agitation, speeches & mass gathering or any unlawful activities causing inconvenience & disruption in the day to day academic functioning are not allowed anywhere in the campus.", he said in a statement.
He further said that the students are expected to cooperate actively in discipline maintenance to support exam & conduct of classes. They are also expected to immediately report any outsider/unauthorized campus entry as this can lead to an attempt of disruption of peace at Jamia milllia Islamia.
"Strict action will be initiated if anyone found engaged in such activities", the order by the Registrar said.
Tensions escalated around the Jamia varsity after the protestors turned violent on Dec 15, with mob pelting stones at the police, that left six policemen injured. The protestors also torched 3 buses during the clashes with the police.
However, Jamia's chief proctor accused Delhi Police for forcibly entering the university premises and beat up the staff and students because of which they were forced to leave the campus.
