'No assurances, sack Dharmendra Pradhan': CJP fires back at PM Modi over NEET row

Responding to the Prime Minister's late-night video message, the group said assurances were no longer enough.

In a post on X, CJP wrote, "Sir, no assurances, just a resignation is needed. You have already given assurances many times before."

PM Modi assures action against paper leak accused

In a video message posted on X, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the distress caused by paper leaks and said the government had taken several measures over the past two-and-a-half months to address the crisis.

His remarks came hours after the Delhi High Court announced the creation of a fast-track court to hear cases related to paper leaks.

'Paper leak is not an ordinary issue'

Describing the issue as deeply painful for students and their families, Modi said the government fully understood the gravity of the situation.

"Friends, I know that paper leak is not an ordinary issue. It is very painful for lakhs of students and their families. That is why many steps have been taken in the last two and a half months," he said.

The Prime Minister said authorities had already taken action against those responsible.

"The culprits have been caught and are in jail. Our most important responsibility was to ensure that students do not waste a single year. It was very important to take the exams immediately," he added.

Sonam Wangchuk ends fast

Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike since June 28 on the issue, ended his fast last night in presence of Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda.

Wangchuk said he quit the fast on assurances from the minister that no action will be taken against the protesters, the matter will be taken up in Parliament and Rs. 1 crore compensation to the families of the students who died of suicide due to NEET cancellation.

Wangchuk, a climate activist from Ladakh, was forcefully removed from the protest epicentre Jantar Mantar by police last week before admitting him to a government hospital.

Later, he was shifted to a private clinic following a court order.
