NIA arrests Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin's son in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 30 (IBNS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Syed Shakeel Ahmed, the son of Syed Salahuddin, the chief of Kashmiri separatist militant organisation Hizbul Mujahideen, in Srinagar on Thursday.

Ahmed was picked up during a raid in Rambagh area of the city and has been placed under house arrest.

A police officer has been quoted by NDTV as saying, "Shakeel is working as a laboratory technician in Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura."

Syed Shahid Yusuf, the Hizbul chief's another son, was arrested in Oct, 2017.

Yusuf was working with the agricultural department of Jammu and Kashmir at the time of his arrest.

The department had suspended him following the arrest.
