Lucknow/New Delhi/IBNS: The Unnao rape victim, who was set on fire on Thursday, died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Friday, media reports said.

The victim, who was on ventilator support, suffered cardiac arrest at 10 minutes past 11 pm on Friday night and was declared dead 30 minutes later at 11:40 pm, said hospital sources to Hindustan Times.

“Doctors tried to resuscitate her for almost 30 minutes but to no avail. She was declared dead at around 11.40 pm,” said hospital sources to the newspaper.

She was set on fire on Thursday morning while she was heading to a local court for the hearing on the rape case filed by the girl.

Three men including the two accused in the rape case were arrested for setting the victim on fire.
While one of the two accused was on the run, the other was arrested but he got a bail last week.

The girl in March had filed the rape case against two men from her paternal village in Unnao.

The two men had allegedly raped her and filmed the act.
