Nearly 100 killed in Kerala flood; PM Modi to visit southern state

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 17 (IBNS): Nearly 100 people have died so far in the rain-caused flood in Kerala, several media reports said.

According to The Times Of India, 97 people have died.

The Kochi airport will remain closed till Aug 26 owing to the adverse situation in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who discussed the flood situation with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan a day ago, is likely to visit the southern state on Friday.

Modi is likely to leave New Delhi for Kerala at 7 pm, media report said.
