Navjot Sidhu meets Rahul Gandhi in Delhi amid tussle with Amarinder Singh in Punjab

New Delhi/IBNS: Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, whose continuous tussle with Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has led to a crisis in the party's state unit, met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Wednesday.

The meeting comes just a day after the former Congress chief declared that he had no meeting scheduled with the cricketer-turned-politician.

Earlier in the day, Sidhu had met Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for a four-hour discussion on the matter.

While the details of their talks are not known, Sidhu had tweeted their picture. "Had a long meeting with @priyankagandhi Ji," read the post.

The 57-year-old, who is known to be backed by Rahul Gandhi, has an influence both in the state and the party.

He had been pushing for a meeting with the Gandhis to press his demands.

The Punjab Congress reportedly made it clear that it would continue to back Amarinder Singh and will contest the next year's state elections under his leadership.

But the Gandhis did not meet the Chief Minister when he was in Delhi last week.
Ā
It is unclear whether these meetings will pacify the Punjab leader, who has often raised his grievances against Amarinder Singh.
