New Delhi, Sept 17 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked people to suggest ideas for his Howdy Modi event in the US where he will be addressing the Indian community on Sunday.

The event assumes significance as US President Donald Trump will also join it.

" There is great enthusiasm towards the #HowdyModi programme in Houston on 22nd. For my speech that day, I want to hear from you. Share your ideas for my address. I would refer to some of them during my remarks. Express your thoughts on the special Open Forum on the NaMo App," Modi tweeted.

According to reports, the event is expected to be attended by more than 50,000 Indian-Americans from across the US.

First American Hindu Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Senate representatives and governors of various states among others will also be present at the event which is being organised at Houston's NRG Stadium, reported Times Now.

In a major move to boost India-US ties, President Donald Trump will attend Indian PM Narendra Modi's diaspora outreach event in Houston on Sunday, the White House confirmed.

Speaking on the event, the White House said in a statement: "On Sunday, September 22, 2019, President Donald J. Trump will travel to Houston, Texas, and Wapakoneta, Ohio, to underscore the important partnerships between the United States and India, and Australia."

"In Houston, President Trump will participate in an event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. The event, 'Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures,' is expected to draw tens of thousands of people. It will be a great opportunity to emphasize the strong ties between the people of the United States and India, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the world’s oldest and largest democracies, and to discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationship," read the statement.
