N R Congress General Secretary V Bhalan dies of Covid-19

Puducherry/UNI: N R Congress General Secretary V Bhalan, who had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at Manakula Vinayagar Medical College (MVMC) here, died in the early hours of Tuesday.

He is 68 and was survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Bhalan was tested positive for the virus on Jul 23 and was admitted to MVMC. He breathed his last at 0325 hrs.

Bhalan held the post of the Youth Congress President and later joined the N R Congress when Mr N Rangaswamy floated the party.

He also held the post of PAPSCO (Puducherry Agro-Products and Civil Supplies Corporation) Chairperson of the Anglo-French Textile Mills (AFT) and was nominated to the territorial assembly during the last tenure of Mr Rangaswamy as the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, Director of Medical Services (DMS) Dr Mohan Kumar in a WhatsApp posting said that he was evaluated and found to have Covid bronchopneumonia of moderate severity.

He died due to severe Covid Pneumonia, Diabetes Mellitus, systemic Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease.
