Myanmar: Amnesty International to launch briefing exposing pre-election crackdown
London, Sept 30 (IBNS) The Amnesty International will launch a new briefing highlighting how Myanmar’s authorities are locking up and harassing scores of peaceful activists as part of an intensifying and far-reaching crackdown ahead of November’s elections on Oct 8.
The briefing will also mark the launch of Amnesty International’s new campaign to release all prisoners of conscience in the country.
"The campaign – The Land of Make Believe – will show that Myanmar's human rights situation is far from as improved as the authorities claim," the Amnesty International said in a statement.
