Mumbai to continue under 'Level 3' restrictions despite fall in Covid-19 cases
Mumbai/IBNS: Mumbai will continue to remain under Level 3 of the Maharashtra government's phased unlock plan, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said.
The civic body said the average positivity rate of coronavirus infection in the city has been 3.96 per cent and oxygen bed occupancy of 23.04 per cent in the last two weeks.
After cases of Delta Plus variant were detected in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray imposed stricter restrictions in the state.
BMC has continued to keep Mumbai under Level 3 restrictions despite the Covid-19 cases and the demand for oxygen beds dropped to Level 1 requirements.
The Maharashtra government had earlier announced a five-phase unlock plan with three-level restrictions in all districts irrespective of weekly positivity rate and oxygen bed occupancy.
The positivity rate will be determined on the basis of RT-PCR test, and not rapid antigen or other tests.
In Mumbai, essential shops and establishments can remain open till 4 p.m. on all days in areas falling under Level 3 while non essential services and establishments can remain open till 4 p.m. on weekdays.
Restaurants can have dine-in facilities till 4:00 p.m. and takeaways and home delivery after that.
Suburban trains will be accessible only to medical staff and personnel engaged in essential services.
Gyms, salons, beauty centres, spas and wellness centres can operate with 50 per cent occupancy and only till 4 p.m. They have been directed not to use air conditioners and entertain clients only with prior appointments.
Malls, theatres and multiplexes will continue to remain shut.
Movie and television shoots and other gatherings like funerals and weddings will be allowed with 50 per cent attendance on weekdays.
E-commerce deliveries will continue as before.
