Mumbai/IBNS: Mumbai, the financial capital of India, on Monday morning suffered an unprecedented, massive power outage leading various services in the tinseltown to a grinding halt.

The train services were on halt while several traffic signals had also stopped working.

The power has now been restored in most parts of the city.

The power outage occurred due to grid failure at Tata Power.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered a probe into the large scale outage which is an unprecedented scene in Mumbai.

Stock markets and airports have, however, remained functional.

The unprecedented power cut occurred little after 10 in the morning leaving people clueless.

BEST Electricity had put up a tweet, "The electric supply is interrupted due to TATAs incoming electric supply failure. Inconvenience is regretted."

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan had tweeted, "Entire city in power outage .. somehow managing this message .. keep calm all shall be well .."
