Modi removes 'Chowkidar' prefix from his Twitter

New Delhi, May 23 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has removed the "Chowkidar" prefix from his Twitter handle name.

"The word ‘Chowkidar’ goes from my Twitter name but it remains an integral part of me," he said.

"Now, the time has come to take the Chowkidar Spirit to the next level," he said.

After Modi prefixed his Twitter handle with "Chowkidar", most BJP leaders and many activists did the same on their Twitter.

Chowkidaar means "guard" and Narendra Modi had often said he is the guard of the country.

"The people of India became Chowkidars and rendered great service to the nation. Chowkidar has become a powerful symbol to safeguard India from the evils of casteism, communalism, corruption and cronyism," he said in another tweet.

Narendra Modi is set to return to power for a second consecutive term with a thumping majority.
