'Modi is not a major problem, he is a showman with no substance': Rahul Gandhi mocks PM

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has attempted to disregard Prime Minister Narendra Modi's political power calling him "a showman" and claimed he was much hyped by people and media.

Rahul made the remark addressing his party workers at the Bhagidari Nyay Sammelan in New Delhi.

The Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition asked a rhetorical question, "Do you know what's the biggest problem in politics?"

The audience responded saying, "Narendra Modi."

It was then Rahul tried to mock the Prime Minister in an attempt to portray the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart as an insignificant politician.

"Narendra Modi is not a major problem. You think high of him. Media has created a hype about him. Earlier, I hadn't met him. Now after meeting him on two-three occasions, I understood he is nothing. He is a showman with no substance. I can assure you all because I met him," said the Rae Bareli MP.

The opposition leader passed the remark on a day Modi broke Rahul's grandmother and Congress stalwart Indira Gandhi's record of the second highest number of consecutive days in office.

Modi completed 4,078 consecutive days in office in an uninterrupted run as the Prime Minister.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top leader stormed into power in 2014 and he was re-elected twice in 2019 and 2024.

The 74-year-old is only behind India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who remained in office for 16 years and 286 days uninterrupted.

The second Indian PM to be re-elected for a third straight term, Modi is also the longest serving non-Congress Prime Minister of the country.
