Modi inaugurates Assam Gas Cracker project and NRL wax producing unit

Guwahati, Feb 5 (IBNS) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated Rs 10,000 crore Assam Gas Cracker project and wax producing unit in Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) at Lepetkata in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district and slammed to the earlier UPA government for its inordinate delay.

“This project has been completed and inaugurated 25 years back. If it was inaugurated 25 years before then more employment would have been generated. But it did not happen,” Modi said after inaugurating the projects.

Modi said the two projects were dedicated to the nation and are important for two reasons - for the value addition they would achieve for natural raw materials and for the employment opportunities they would create for the youth of Assam.

“The dedication of these projects to the nation brings joy (Anand) across the country and all-round joy (Sarbanand) in Assam,” Modi said.

“It would ensure employment generation and avoid massive cost overruns. Rapid industrial development of the country is necessary to create employment for India's youth,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister reiterated that eastern India must develop for the all-round development of India.

“The Union Government is paying special attention to the North-Eastern region by boosting infrastructure and connectivity,” Modi said.

Modi said that the Union Government is working on the principle of cooperative federalism, and both the Centre and States have to work together for development.
