Minor fire breaks out in ship at Visakhapatnam port

Visakhapatnam/UNI: A minor broke out in a ship berthed at the visakhapatnam port trust (VPT) here on Saturday.

In a release here on Sunday, the port authorities said the BD51 vessel berthed on August 8 , 2020 @Wq5 for crew sign on and sign off.

On Sunday at 1400 hrs , it was noticed that smoke coming from the crew change room of the ship, the release said.

Immediately VPT Fire brigade and Fire float were deployed and the smoke was put off.

It originated from oil soaked waste jute and cotton and boiler suits of crews.

The reason may be short circuit, but not established.

There's no damage to vessel in this regard, the release added.
