Meghalaya Governor holds review of centrally sponsored schemes

Shillong/IBNS: Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik held a review meeting of centrally sponsored schemes and especially Prime Minister's Schemes with officials of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills Districts at Raj Bhavan, Shillong.

The review meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police along with district officials dealing with the programmes in the three districts.

The Deputy Commissioners made a comprehensive presentation on the performance of important schemes like MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana , PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana , SSA , NHM , PM Ujjwala Yojana, PMGSY and other schemes.

The Deputy Commissioners also highlighted the problems and constraints faced by the districts and also highlighted the significant achievements in their respective districts.

The later part of the meeting focused on law and order issues in which the Superintendents of Police made presentations on issues of security, law and order, issues of human trafficking, drug abuse and smuggling and steps taken by the State Police to counter the challenges.

The Meghalaya Governor expressed his satisfaction on the performance of the schemes and assured that some issues including that of poor bank coverage and mobile connectivity would be addressed by taking up the issues at his level too.

He also said that maternal health and child schemes are very close to his heart and appealed to the district officials to specially focus on them.
