Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 13 (IBNS) In successive Maoist attacks in 48 hours, one BSF jawan was killed and eight security personnel were injured in two separate incidents in the extremist-hit Chhattisgarh on Monday.

Reports quoted BSF officials as saying that head constable R P Solanki succumbed to his bullet injuries after  armed Maoists attacked  a BSF camp at Chhotebetiya forests in Kanker district's Pakhanjoor area in the early hours.

In another incident, eight  security personnel  were  injured in a landmine blast triggered by the Maoists  in Dantewada district.

Details of the Dantewara attack are still awaited.

The incidents took place after Saturday's deadly attack in which seven  STF personnel were killed and 10 others injured  in the forests of  Pidmel village under Polampalli of Sukna district, around 450 kms from state capital Raipur.

On Sunday, Naxals torched 17 transport vehicles and machines at an iron ore mine in the Barbaspur village in the Kanker district.

At Kanker Maoists opened indiscriminate firing on BSF men who were conducting patrolling, engaging them in a gun battle.

R K Vij, head of the state's anti-Naxal operation said the deceased Jawan, R P Solanki, was a head constable of the BSF.

He claimed that a rebel was also found killed at the attack site and three IEDs of 20 kg each were recovered during the combing operation near the camp.
