Mamata Banerjee govt should proactively contain illegal bombmaking: Jagdeep Dhankar after Malda factory blast

Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar on Thursday pulled up the Mamata Banerjee government after five labourers were killed and five others were seriously injured in a high-intensity explosion at a plastic factory at Sujapur area in Malda district.

Dhankar asked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to"proactively contain illegal bomb-making and ensure professional non partisan investigations."

He also slammed the government over "worrisome" state of investigations in matters of law and order.

"High time for ACS Home who is responsible for @HomeBengal  to respond to pending issues from my end. Indiscriminate and untenable stance qua governor cannot be overlooked. Law and order, state of investigations are worrisome and call for non partisan handling," Dhakar wrote in a series of tweets.

The Bengal Governor said it was time for the government and CM Mamata Banerjee to be more responsible.

"Time @HomeBengal @MamataOfficial  to be responsible. Earlier Rape Statistics signed by Div Commissioners/DMs were labelled as “not based on any official report, data, or information. Allegations r baseless, ....misguiding: totally incongruous with authentic facts & figures.”

He also questioned Banerjee that why the number of deaths in the Malda incident was not officially revealed.

According to reports, a major portion of the factory has been destroyed due to the explosion that occurred inside a heavy machine.

"After preliminary inquiry, we are suspecting that a technical or mechanical or electrical malfunction in a heavy machine, which was used to cut plastic, caused the high intensity explosion," Malda SP Alok Rajoria told IBNS.

"Our expert will collect samples from the scene and after a proper investigation we can confirm the exact reason behind the explosion," Alok Rajoria said.

The IPS official said that four labourers were killed at the scene and another later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, taking the toll to five.

"Five persons are undergoing treatment at Malda Medical College and Hospital while we have come to know that two-three more were minorly injured in the accident and they went back to their homes," Rajoria added.
