Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday shut down six popular bar-cum-restaurants at Celica Park, formerly known as Magma House, in Kolkata's Park Street area over the alleged flouting of fire rules, media reports said.

Mamata made a surprise visit to the Celica Park, where multi-storeyed buildings and several bar-cum-restaurants are located, on her way back from inspection of the situation after a deadly fire that broke out at Rituraj Hotel in Kolkata's Machuabazar area earlier this week.

The Chief Minister discovered rows of LPG cylinders which were placed in racks in multiple tiers of one end of the building's entrance.

"Five thousand people will die if the cylinders explode," said Mamata as per reports.

The six restaurants are Barbeque Nation, Black Cat, AMPM, LMNOQ, Moti Mahal Delux and Boujee House.

The Chief Minister said she was first informed about the LPG cylinders being kept in a manner from one who made a recent visit here.

Mamata was on Thursday accompanied by Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, Fire and Emergency Services Sujit Bose, Industries Minister Shashi Panja and Kolkata Commissioner of Police Manoj Verma.

The Chief Minister further alleged the terrace was shut and a restaurant was opened.

She said the owners did not take corrective measures even after they were informed by Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), fire services department and police.
