Thane/UNI: A 21-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly killing a teenager as the victim was apparently not repaying the loan taken from him, police said here on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Shahbad Ansari, a resident of Pohgaon in Bhiwandi town.

Talking to UNI, Bhiwandi taluka Police Station Inspector Ram Balsingh stated that the accused had given a loan of Rs 20,000 to Sohelal Khan (18). Later, when Shahbad asked for loan repayment, Sohelal started giving him evasive replies.

On Sunday, an annoyed Shahbad assaulted the victim with an axe and later stoned him to death. Subsequently, he dumped the body in the bushes on the village outskirts.

The matter came to fore when the police received the information about the body lying at the place.

The body has been sent for post mortem, police apprised, adding that offenses against the accused have been booked under the IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence).
