Maharashtra: Major fire destroys sugarcane yield worth Rs 25 lakhs in Kolhapur

Kolhapur/UNI: A major fire reportedly erupted in the sugarcane fields here on Sunday and damaged yield worth Rs 25 lakhs standing across 30 acres of land.

According to Karveer Police, the blaze broke out today evening in Kumbhar Patti and Kulki areas of Prayag-Chikhali village, which suffered heavy losses during last year floods.

The yield of total 25 farmers standing across 30 acres of land and valuing up to Rs 25 lakhs have been completely burnt.

The case of the fire is yet to be ascertained, said police.
