Maharashtra: Independent MLA from Chandrapur supports BJP

Mumbai/IBNS: Strengthening the saffron unit, Independent MLA from Maharashtra's Chandrapur, Jorgewar Kishor Gajanan, on Wednesday extended his support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is having a tussle with its ally Shiv Sena over power sharing in the next government due to be formed.

Maharashtra caretaker Chief Minister and BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis, took to Twitter to say, "Independent MLA from Chandrapur Assembly Constituency Kishor Jorgewar met to handover unconditional support letter with leaders from Chandrapur. "

Jorgewar had defeated BJP's Nanaji Sitaramji Shamkule by 72661 votes.

With Jorgewar's support, the BJP now has 106 MLAs with itself while the Sena has 56 MLAs under its belt.

Though the two parties had fought the elections in an alliance, the Sena after the poll results demanded rotational Chief Ministers and 50:50 formula in the sharing of ministries.

Refuting the Sena's claim of pre-determined 50:50 formula in power, Fandavis on Tuesday said he will remain as Maharashtra Chief Minister for the next five years.
