Maharashtra Cabinet will not be extended until floor test: Fadnavis

Mumbai, Nov 2 (IBNS): Maharashtra's newly appointed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clarified that his Cabinet will not be expanded until the floor test is complete.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Maharashtra will require to prove its majority on the floor of the House within 15 days.

"There is no condition. If by joining the government they mean inducting ministers in the Cabinet, that will happen only after the floor test. They also understand that," Fadnavis told CNN-IBN channel.

Meanwhile, BJP's former ally Shiv Sena has already stepped up pressure over the power sharing issue before the floor test.

The BJP has 121 MLA's in the 288-member Assembly but it claims support of all seven independents and some from smaller parties.

Fadnavis also said that talks with the Sena are progressing positively.

On being asked about inducting a deputy chief minister, Fadnavis told the channel: "At this point we have not thought about it. It is my party's decision to appoint a deputy chief minister. I'll be comfortable with any decision."
