Lok Sabha passes three bills by voice vote amid opposition protests

New Delhi/UNI: The Lok Sabha on Monday passed The Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill 2021, The Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2021 and The Constitution (Schedule Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2021 by voice vote and without discussion amidst opposition protests.

Three bills including The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2021 were introduced in the Lok Sabha.

Aayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal introduced The National Commission for Homoeopathy (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (Amendment) Bill, 2021 amidst opposition by Congress and TMC members.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar introduced The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the House that seeks to give the right to the states to have their own list of OBCs.

After the introduction of the three bills, Rajendra Agarwal, who was in the chair, adjourned the House till 1230 hrs.

Upon reassembling after the third adjournment at 1230 hrs, the Lok Sabha passed The Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill 2021, The Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2021 and The Constitution (Schedule Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2021 by voice vote and without discussion.

Both (Amendment) Bill 2021 and The Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2021 were earlier passed by the Rajya Sabha.

After the passage of the three Bills, Agarwal adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.

Earlier in the day, proceedings of the Lok Sabha were first adjourned till 1130 hrs and again till 1200 hrs.

As the members reassembled after the first adjournment at 1130 hrs, the Opposition Members, carrying placards, trooped into the well of the House and started sloganeering over the issues.

When the ruckus continued unabated, Agarwal adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.

Before taking up the question hour, Speaker Om Birla congratulated Indian track and field athlete Neeraj Chopra who scripted history by winning a gold medal in the men's javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics on behalf of the House.

He also congratulated wrestler Bajrang Punia for clinching a bronze medal.

The Speaker lauded the performance of the Indian contingent which included the five other medal winners.

When the question hour commenced, the opposition members, carrying placards, rushed into the well.

Birla made repeated requests to the members to resume their seats.

When the members refused to budge, the Speaker adjourned the House.
