Lok Sabha elections 2024: Akhilesh Yadav says SP's alliance with Congress 'off to good start'

| @indiablooms | Jan 28, 2024, at 02:14 am

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday expressed satisfaction with the alliance between his party and the Congress, underscoring that his party has secured 11 important Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh under a seat-sharing arrangement.

It's worth noting that Uttar Pradesh contributes 80 members to the Lower House of Parliament, and elections are scheduled for April-May.

"Our cordial alliance with the Congress is off to a good start with 11 strong seats. This trend will move forward with the winning equation. 'INDIA' team and 'PDA' strategy will change history," Yadav said in a post in Hindi on 'X'.

This development occurs against the backdrop of increasing signs that Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar may once again make a major shift and rejoin the BJP-led NDA.

In August 2022, Kumar had allied with the RJD, founded by his former arch-rival Lalu Prasad, following his split from the BJP.

Following his tenure as the longest-serving Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar initiated efforts to unite various political parties nationwide, aiming to collectively challenge the BJP.

This resulted in the creation of the opposition bloc named INDIA.

However, should Nitish Kumar choose to rejoin the NDA, the united front of the opposition would face a major setback.
