Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday remembered former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary and said the countrymen should always work to realise his vision for a strong India.

His unwavering commitment to India's progress and his leadership during challenging times remain exemplary. May we always work to realise his vision for a strong India," Modi wrote on X.

Modi also visited Vijay Ghat memorial to pay floral tribute to Shastri.

Shastri, born in the year 1904 in Varanasi to Ramdulari Devi and Sharada Prasad Srivastava rose to prominence in the 1920’s after joining the freedom movement.
