Kolkata to witness transport strike tomorrow
Kolkata, Sept 18 (IBNS): The transport system of Kolkata will be immobilized on Friday due to the transport strike called by Left Front labour units.
The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has jointly called the transport strike.
AITUC leader Nawal Kishor Shrivastav said that CITU and AITUC supported all auto, taxi, bus, minibus and goods carrier trucks will not come out on road.
CITU leader Anadi Sahoo told that government transport staff will take part in this strike.
West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra said that to confront with the strike, maximum number of government buses will be on the roads.
But reports say that the number of government buses in running condition are not sufficient.
Significantly, labour unit of Indian National Congress, the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and the labour unit of Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP), Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) have supported this strike.
On other side, the 'non-stop' taxi strike, called by CITU and AITUC, has been started from Thursday. Very minimum number of 'No Refusal' taxis were found in Kolkata. Passengers suffered a lot due to this taxis strike.
