Kolkata, Sep 3 (IBNS): Two students of Jadavpur University were allegedly beaten in hostel room and pushed outside the hostel by a group of students led by a students' union leader on Wednesday midnight.
Two senior students of JU- Partha Sarathi Mal (Electrical Engineering, 3rd Year) and Jahangir Hossain (Economics, 2nd Year) claimed that they were beaten up by few other students including the joint general secretary of FETSU (Faculty of Engineering and Technology Students' Union) Shibam Ghosh on Wednesday midnight as they had protested against the ragging on junior students at JU's main boys' hostel.

They also submitted a complaint to the Vice-Chancellor on Thursday.

JU VC Suranjan Das told IBNS: "I have received a complaint and met the dean of the students too. Our anti-ragging cell is investigating this matter. After investigation, steps will be taken in accordance with law."

When asked about the matter, JU's dean of the students, Rajat Roy told IBNS: "VC have discussed with me regarding this issue. Our anti-ragging cell has started investigation into the incident."
